The primer smoothes over beautifully and sinks in quickly to provide a well hydrated base for foundation/BB/CC's whatever you've got going on. I. This is not the most ideal packaging for travel. It spreads so smoothly onto the skin and has a slight cooling effect. It takes a few minutes for it to completely absorb into the skin. Feel on skin: Once absorbed, this primer leaves no tacky or greasy feel on the skin.
The skin feels so soft, smooth and supple. The smoothness does not feel fake, like the feel imparted by silicone primers. Instead, it truly feels as if my skin is deeply hydrated. Though my skin does lean more towards normal rather than dry during winter time and I suffer from considerably less dry patches, I am loving this primer much more due to its super lightweight feel on the skin. This does hydrate my skin enough for this time of the year, but come winter, I know I will have to use a moisturizer to supplement this.
I feel this primer is hydrating, but not moisturizing and it will not counteract the signs of dehydrated skin if you know what I mean. It leaves a very subtle glow on the skin in a way a healthy-looking skin might give. I did not find this primer to entirely erase the look of pores but it does blur them to some extent.
I do not face the issue of big pores hence this quality is not a deal breaker for me, but if you are someone with problematic pores and you are looking for something which does help you diminish that, you might not be happy with this.
This primer does go on completely clear hence it does not even out skin tone. It does smooth out the skin texture and helps my makeup glide on smoothly. My foundation looked much better with this under it rather than on its own. It did help my makeup wear better and longer. It did not cause me to turn into a grease ball by the end of the day nor did it break me out.
Fragrance: This primer has a fruity floral perfume-y scent with a just a tiny hint of coconut. The scent does linger for a short while before fading. I find this product to be very very similar this is just a tad bit better than the Too Faced one in my opinion in terms of performance, texture, feel, everything! Overall, I do really like this product and do enjoy using this primer.
I do think people of all skin types can use this, but it will be particularly loved by beauties with dry-combination skin types and this is a great product to wear under matte or powder foundations, which have a tendency to dry out skin. I will recommend this. I love eating it, I love it in my perfume as well as makeup.
I like how luxe the packaging is. Who knew there were so many types of coconut.. I have only tried 2 types.. Although it looks beautiful, multiple products have issues with leaking or just outright breaking. For a line that is supposed to deliver the utmost quality, you should expect more, especially given the high price point other designed lines do this kind of thing much better from Givenchy to Giorgio Armani.
The line also has far more unconventional colors that pay homage to Jacobs' philosophy that "there are no rules when it comes to beauty. You can still find attractive shades in this line, but you have to do some serious weeding to get there. The biggest drawback is the potentially irritating ingredients that are found in many of the products. We also feel obligated to mention that the anti-aging claims are significantly overhyped, and that's a major disappointment considering consumers are being asked to pay more for something that doesn't deliver.
On the bright side, it's not all doom and gloom. There are a few good products, and hey, at least their clever names might keep you entertained. We also have to applaud MarcJacobsBeauty. We had high hopes for Marc Jacobs Beauty, especially given the designer's success in the fashion and fragrance worlds, but as is, color us unimpressed. And judging by customer reviews we perused on sites like Sephora. For more information about Coty-owned Marc Jacobs Beauty, call or visit marcjacobsbeauty.

Expert Reviews The job of any great foundation primer is to provide a smooth canvas for makeup application, as well as helping your foundation last longer.
Pros: Applies easily and absorbs quickly. Feels moisturizing and creates a smooth canvas for makeup. Aids in makeup application and really does extend the wear of foundation. Cons: Contains a small amount of fragrance and the fragrance ingredient linalool, which isn't ideal for sensitive skin. Jar Packaging: No.
In my recent haul, I picked up some new releases by Marc Jacobs.

It also works as a stable delivery system of active materials , has sebum absorption and control properties and upon application, it transforms into a matte appearance with a powdery after feel. A white, elastomeric silicone powder that gives a nice silky and powdery feel to the products. It also has some oil and sebum absorption capabilities. A super commonly used 5 unit long, cyclic structured silicone that is water-thin and does not stay on the skin but evaporates from it called volatile silicone.
Similar to other silicones, it gives skin and hair a silky, smooth feel. It's often combined with the non-volatile i. It is a really nice and refreshing beverage loaded with good for the body and the skin things. This adds up to coconut water being a nice moisturizing and nourishing ingredient on the skin and it is also claimed to have some antioxidant and anti-glycation properties.
Thanks to this last thing, it allows a lower percentage of traditional preservative or it might even be able to completely replace them. Probably the most common silicone of all. It is a polymer created from repeating subunits molecule and has different molecular weight and thus different viscosity versions from water-light to thick liquid.
As for skincare, it makes the skin silky smooth , creates a subtle gloss and forms a protective barrier aka occlusive. Also, works well to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and give skin a plump look of course that is only temporary, but still, it's nice. There are also scar treatment gels out there using dimethicone as their base ingredient. It helps to soften scars and increase their elasticity.
As for hair care, it is a non-volatile silicone meaning that it stays on the hair rather than evaporates from it and smoothes the hair like no other thing. Depending on your hair type, it can be a bit difficult to wash out and might cause some build-up btw, this is not true to all silicones, only the non-volatile types.
It seems to us that squalane is in fashion and there is a reason for it. Chemically speaking, it is a saturated no double bonds hydrocarbon a molecule consisting only of carbon and hydrogen , meaning that it's a nice and stable oily liquid with a long shelf life.
It occurs naturally in certain fish and plant oils e. In other words, it's a superb moisturizer that makes your skin nice and smooth, without being heavy or greasy. Another advantage of squalane is that it is pretty much compatible with all skin types and skin conditions.
It is excellent for acne-prone skin and safe to use even if you have fungi-related skin issues, like seborrhea or fungal acne. A cellulose-derived helper ingredient that is created by attaching a water-hating part cetyl group to the water-loving thickener, Hydroxyethylcellulose. The resulting thing, Cetyl Hydroxyethylcellulose is also a thickener but with some surface active properties as part of the molecule is water-loving and part of it is oil loving. Thanks to its surface-active properties, it also works as an emulsion stabilizer.
A very common ingredient that can be found in all cell membranes. In cosmetics it's quite the multi-tasker: it's an emollient and water-binding ingredient but it's also an emulsifier and can be used for stabilization purposes. It's also often used to create liposomes. The freeze-dried, powder form of coconut water also called the liquid coconut endosperm that's claimed to be loaded with all kinds of skin-nourishing things : proteins, amino acids, sugars, vitamins, minerals and growth hormones kinetin that support healthy cell growth and skin hydration.
Exactly what it sounds: nice smelling stuff put into cosmetic products so that the end product also smells nice. Fragrance in the US and parfum in the EU is a generic term on the ingredient list that is made up of 30 to 50 chemicals on average but it can have as much as components!
Also, if your skin is sensitive, fragrance is again not your best friend. It can be found in nature - in green tea - but the version used in cosmetics is synthetic. Other than having a good safety profile and being quite gentle to the skin it has some other advantages too. Citric acid comes from citrus fruits and is an AHA. So citric acid is an exfoliant , that can - just like other AHAs - gently lift off the dead skin cells of your skin and make it more smooth and fresh.
But according to a comparative study done in , citric acid has less skin improving magic properties than glycolic or lactic acid. It's one of those things that help your cosmetics not to go wrong too soon , aka a preservative. To do that it has to break down to its active form, sorbic acid. For that to happen, there has to be water in the product and the right pH value pH If you see potassium sorbate you should see some other preservative next to it too.
If you have spotted ethylhexylglycerin on the ingredient list, most probably you will see there also the current IT-preservative, phenoxyethanol. They are good friends because ethylhexylglycerin can boost the effectiveness of phenoxyethanol and other preservatives and as an added bonus it feels nice on the skin too. Also, it's an effective deodorant and a medium spreading emollient. It's a water-hating, fumed silica that works as a thickener for oils and it can also suspend particles in oils.
Linalool is a super common fragrance ingredient. The problem with linalool is, that just like limonene it oxidises on air exposure and becomes allergenic. Login Register.
